It’s not everyday that someone’s genuinely happy that their phone is damaged, but this particular iPhone 5 sound issue made one customer very happy.

A customer called in yesterday, and said that when he was making calls with his iPhone 5, he was struggling to hear the person on the other end of the phone. He also mentioned that he had poor hearing, and wore a hearing aid, so he was really hoping that it was an issue with the phone, and not his hearing aid. Thankfully, one of our engineers checked the phone for him, and determined that the earpiece was faulty an needed to be replaced.

iPhone 5 earpiece replacements are quite common, and we see a particularly high number of these issues from people that work with metal (the magnet in the speaker attracts metal dust and filings which damage it). One of engineers had the iPhone 5 earpiece replaced and the phone back up in running within two hours, with a 6 month warranty.
