This phone was sent in to us from a customer in Kildare, with a screen problem. The customer hadn’t dropped the phone, but told us that for no real reason every now and then, the phone screen wouldn’t light up when he was using it. Generally speaking, most phone screen problems result in the screen needing to be replaced, but with this one it turned out not to be the case.

One of our engineers took a look at the phone, and realised that the screen itself was in perfect condition, but the proximity sensor was damaged. For those of you who don’t know, there is a small sensor just above the screen on your phone, that recognises that your face is pressed against the phone when your making call. This sensor is useful if you, for example, don’t want to randomly hang up on people, or put them on hold for no reason. On this particular damaged Galaxy S4 Mini, the problem was that the sensor was coming on when it shouldn’t have, causing the phone to not switch on it’s backlight.

Thankfully this Galaxy S4 Mini repair was completed and back working in no time, with a full 6 month warranty.
