Over the years we’ve seen some destroyed phones, with the sometimes ridiculous stories attached to them, but this is the first iPhone 6 repair we’ve done that involved the phone being slammed in a car door.

So, what happens when a car door is closed on a phone I hear you ask, well first off, and hardly surprising, the screen will break. The next problem, as you can see from these images, is the housing bending and warping, which can cause problems if the mainboard is affected (it won’t bend, it will break). So, at first glance, it looked like the entire front screen panel and housing needed to be replaced, assuming the mainboard hasn’t snapped internally.

Thankfully, once one of engineers opened up the phone, we were glad to find that the main board was fine and working, and we were able to rework the housing into shape without having to replace it. Two hours later, after a quick screen replacement, we had the phone as good as new, with a 6 month warranty.
